>>> BOOKMOBILE TOUR IN MAY
We'll be up in the Northeastern US for a handful of dates in early May. Specifics can be found over yonder to your right >>>.

>>> RECESSION ANYONE? BIG SALE!
Due to years of financial over-extention on my part, Woodson Lateral is slowing down a bit on the release forcast for 2008. Not to fret though, all of the active WLR bands are continuing stay active , play out and work on future releases. When we can afford to press them, you can expect 2nd full-lengths from Bookmobile and Lunch Buddy Program, as well as my 3rd Splinters album, among others. The 2nd Field Notes album is recorded, mixed, and mastered, but as yet unpressed. It will be Self-Titled. Expect to see CDs available on this or some other smart label later in 2008. It's a beautiful piece of work.

In the meantime, you can ease our woe, and speed our release schedule up by buying music from our catalog page. For a limited time, we're cutting the price of our CD releases to a paltry $7. And that even includes shipping within the US! A better investment than US real estate!

-Ben

P.S. expect some free downloadable mp3 releases from the more electronic/experimental side of the Woodson Family on our new net(sub-)label, Cosmeceutical™. But more on that in the near future.

>>> NEW FIELD NOTES MATERIAL
Former Mines/Dutch Flat member Chad Hanson's sophomore album as Field Notes is nearing completion. The audio is about 97% mixed, and we're quite pleased with how it's turning out. It's a big step forward from his debut, Color Of Sunshine, both in songcraft and sound production quality, while having ambitions toward something timeless and classic in it's clean, simple rock elegance. This one should put Chad squarely on the map in 2008. More info soon.

>>> WLR ON SURF DVD SOUNDTRACK
Tracks by Splinters, Bookmobile and Zapan will be featured in the new DVD, Tomorrow Today soon to be released by Transworld SURF Magazine. Cutting-edge music to accompany the cutting-edge curl-rippin'. Release date pending.

>>> WLR026 OUT NOW
Lunch Buddy Program's debut CD, Rest Stops and Roadmaps is finally out, after 5 years of basement recording sessions, lots of experimentation and evolution. To celebrate, the duo has come out of hiding, recruited a fine bass player in Jesse Dosher, and are starting to behave like a real band. LBP will be playing as many shows as they can muster in the coming months, so please brave the Seattle Winter sog and come check 'em out. The album is now available in Seattle's finest record stores, and through our catalog page. It will be available nationally through Southern Distribution, and digitally through all major retailers such as iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, etc...

>>> BOOPANSCHWING IN YOUR PANTS
It's out! Over two years in the making, Bookmobile and Zapan team up for this tag-team electronic hoe-down. A zesty blend of beats, synths, sound design and melody that might be seen as a modern take on NYC's Illbient movement in the 90's- instrumental Hip-Hop, Drum'n'bass, Downtempo, and IDM mingle to make the soundtrack for your summer. Boopanschwing bitches.

>>> BRONZE FAWN ON WLR
We would like to welcome Bronze Fawn to the WLR family. The band consists of original Building Press drummer Jim Acquavella, Bryce Shoemaker (of Vermilion, Joules) and a couple of Texas transplants with chops- Steve Becker and Josh Robertson on Bass and Keys respectively. Dan Wilk completes the live ensemble as the band's official VJ, adeptly manipulating video projections in realtime as the band plays. The quartet play some of the freshest instrumental post-prog-rock-tronica we've heard in some time, and Woodson Lateral is proud to be releasing their debut album. Tenative release date is set for September 4th. We'll have a band page and some mp3s up for these guys shortly.

>>> NEW SPLINTERS ALBUM
The 2nd album from Splinters, titled The Watchmaker is back from the plant and will released on December 12th. Advance copies are available now through our catalog page. Our good friend Dave Segal from the Stranger calls it "a supremely enthralling headphone album." MP3s will be up shortly.

>>> CUMULOUS COMPILATION
Bookmobile and Splinters are proud to be a part of the Cumulous compilation, just released on Memex Records, a local label run by our friend Matt Turpin of laptop duo Hakea. The comp is comprised of 12 solid tracks from some of our favorite experimental electronic artist from the Pacific Northwest, including Son Of Rose, Mori, Hakea, ndCv, Obelus and others... Great artwork by Shawn Wolfe of Panic Now and Remover-Installer fame. Not a weak track on this one. Snatch it up while you can.

>>> DAVE SEGAL RESIGNS?!?
With a heavy heart we report that our friend Dave Segal recently lost his job as music editor at local weekly, The Stranger over a conflict of interest issue involving Dave allowing an advertising coordinator to write music articles for the paper under a pseudonym. While no one disputes that Dave made an error in judgement here, the punishment severely outweighs the crime, as further investigation showed no preferential treatment given to clubs by the writer in question.

Dave was a tremendous boon to the local electronic music community, and did as much as anyone to bring a greater awareness of all types of electronic music to Seattle through his Data Breaker column. As music editor, the quality of the Stranger's music coverage flourished, focusing on a wider array of musical styles, with more focus on engaging, honest and progressive music rather than hipster hairstyles. His departure is a huge loss to Seattle's music community, and he will be greatly missed. We wish him luck in his further endeavors, and highly encourage YOU to write the Stranger protesting their decision.
